Standing, Walking, and Working in Faith

Today, illuminated by the radiant guidance of Scripture. In 2 Corinthians 5:7, we find a beacon of truth that says, "For we walk by faith, not by sight." This profound statement lays the foundation for our spiritual expedition—diving deep into the heart of what it means to stand, walk, and work in unwavering faith.

1. Standing in Faith: The Courage to Face Giants

The act of standing in faith is much like David facing Goliath. Picture the scene: a young shepherd boy, armed with nothing but a slingshot, standing before a towering giant. The physical eyes see an impossible battle; the eyes of faith see a victory already won by God.

David’s confrontation with Goliath is not merely a tale of triumph but a testament to the power of standing firm in one's faith. When David stood before Goliath, he was not standing alone; he was enveloped in the mighty presence of God. This narrative beckons us to stand in faith, even when faced with insurmountable odds, knowing that with God, all things are possible. In that moment of standing before the giant with the stone still in his hand, David did not know or see the result yet, but he did know that the God of all Israel was with him.

In your life, the Goliaths might look like insurmountable challenges or overwhelming fears. Stand in faith, armed with the truth of God's word, and watch the giants fall.

2. Walking in Faith: The Trust to Step Out

To walk by faith is to move in trust, even when the destination is unknown. It's Peter stepping out of the boat to walk on water towards Jesus. It's a step taken not upon the certainty of the seen, but the assurance of the unseen.

Peter's walk on the water was a miraculous moment of absolute trust. The waves around him were real, the wind was strong, but his focus was on Christ. The moment he shifted his gaze to the storm, he began to sink. Walking in faith demands our focus to remain on Jesus, especially when storms rage around us. Our faith should triumph over our overwhelmed senses. Amidst the distractions we see, hear, or feel, it's essential to anchor our focus on Jesus, allowing His guidance to illuminate our path and His love to bring peace to our hearts.

Are there areas in your life where God is calling you to step out in trust? Remember, it's not about the stormy waters but about keeping your eyes fixed on the One who commands the sea. Walk in faith, and dare to step out, even when the first step seems terrifying.

3. Working in Faith: The Determination to Move Mountains

Working in faith is the bold action we take, fueled by our belief in God’s promises. It’s the understanding that our labor in the Lord is not in vain. It's the hands and feet of our faith in motion, actively participating in God's work here on Earth.

Faith without works is dead. To work in faith means to put your belief into action. It's praying as if everything depends on God and working as if everything depends on you. It’s planting seeds in a drought because you trust in God’s provision for rain. It's stepping out of your comfort zone to share the gospel with someone because you believe in the power of salvation. And it's persevering through challenges, knowing that God is working all things for our good.

What work has God called you to do? Are you actively participating in fulfilling His purpose for your life? Let your faith propel you into action. Your call to work in faith might be to serve others, to pursue a calling, or to stand for justice. It requires a determination that says, "I will not only believe, but I will also act."

Closing Thoughts:

Standing, walking, and working in faith are not passive acts but expressions of a dynamic, living relationship with God. They are affirmations of our trust in His sovereignty, our focus on His presence, and our commitment to His purpose.

Today, I challenge you: Stand in the conviction of David, walk with the trust of Peter, and work with the assurance that with God, you are more than a conqueror.

Remember, we walk by faith, not by sight. May your faith be the lens through which you view the world, transforming every step into a leap of trust, every standing moment into a declaration of God's power, and every work into an offering of love.

Stand, walk, and work in faith, dear friends, for the path of faith is the path that leads to life.

Remember, the path laid before us is not always visible to our eyes, but it is illuminated by the light of God's wisdom and guidance. In moments of doubt or uncertainty, cling to the promises of His Word, for it is in Him that we find the strength to overcome any obstacle.

Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us of this unshakeable trust: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." This is not merely a suggestion; it is the blueprint for a life of faith. To trust in the Lord with all our heart means letting go of our plans and preconceptions, surrendering our doubts and fears. It means stepping out in faith, even when the ground beneath us seems uncertain, because we know that God is with us, guiding each step, straightening every path.
